I work in all different types of media! I love to work in watercolors, colored pencils, paints - I’m very very flexible. There’s obviously a ton of media I haven’t tried yet, but I’m open to trying new things and making it work. My media and style range from realistic to cartoon, constantly fluctuating.
I really love relating my work to different artists. My first real inspiration for art was Rebecca Sugar, and her show Steven Universe. I grew up drawing this from the age of about 10 to where I am now. I’ve obviously have changed my style from the shows now, but it was my debut as an artist. I enjoy looking at the art of Sandy Skoglund, and I relate to her color contrasts in her work. She uses very different colors to convey her messages, and I like to do the same.
I’m inspired by how I feel, music and other people. When I draw, I’m usually listening to music, which usually depends on my mood. I take the lyrics of the song and let that inspire me to create something original. Music is such an amazing source of light for me and I love using it to motivate my work. Most of my pieces were thought up while listening to various songs on my playlists.
Other people, on the other hand, inspire me because I’m not them. I use them as almost to study humans themselves, how they work and how they feel. It’s really interesting to draw others because I’m not a fan of drawing myself - I feel conceited doing that. Other people inspire me because they’re beautiful, and their beauty encourages me to capture that beauty. The intent behind most of my pieces is to explore the beauty and shadows of human nature.
