Art is everything; when i listen to beautiful music or see wonderful works of paint or clay, all I want is to be able to create something lovely as well. I believe that art is truly what it means to be human. I love working with clay and and mixing it with my Miyazaki-inspired pop-art-y style to create fun, colorful pieces. I will also sometimes work in acrylic paint and ink. My true passion lies in ceramics, however, and I have been getting into the joys of glaze-dipping and layering. My portfolio consists mainly of wheel-thrown dishes and sets that have been drowned in combinations of either two, four, or even six different glazes. I never quite know how they will come out, and that’s why it’s so rewarding. If there's anything to understand about my collection, it's that I didn't create the works with any sort of finished product in mind. I was having fun! I spend almost everyday on the wheel, throwing and rethrowing because I am addicted to the physical process of creating pottery. The interaction of colors and oxides deeply intrigues me, it's some sort of magic. I hope the viewers of these pieces also find joy in my experimentation with pattern and color. :)
