Art takes on a multitude of various forms. Through dancing, acting, or drawing, art gives
me an open outlet to be able to express myself. Through my artforms I feel like I can be true to
myself. The euphoric feeling of completing a drawing, finishing a dance on stage, or bowing
after a play is something that gives me genuine happiness. Whenever I am feeling down, art
gives me a chance to take my inner turmoil and use it to create something beautiful. The art of
dance has been apart of my life since I was four years old. Expressing myself through the
movement of my body allows me to physically display my emotions. I often struggle with
verbally expressing myself and speaking up. However, whether I am portraying happiness or
sadness, dance allows me to be able to physically experience my feelings without verbal
expression. The performing arts have also been an artform that has been very important to me at
a young age. It allows me to “get out of my shell” and portray my true, authentic self. Finally, I
absolutely love to use drawing as a way to express myself as well. I primarily enjoy working
with charcoal and pastels because it gives me a chance to easily blend colors together to create
beautiful pieces. I like to do darker pieces with meaning behind them because it gives me the
opportunity to express my inner feelings, whether they are good or bad, and use them to be creative.
