My pieces all connect back to an overarching theme of life and the many dips and turns. Starting with “Creation” and then the “Growing Pains” the titles may give a hint of what it's about but the viewers can put them in an order that fits them best. The many experiences we all go through as humans.
I like to create a story or a message through my pieces. I am inspired by novels I read, some of my favorite authors being Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut, Madeline Miller, and George Orwell. I’m also heavily influenced by music and other artists. One artist in particular Weiqi on instagram @/die_inthesea. I enjoy the way she tells stories through their original characters. She shows a great use of colors and composition. The colors they normally use are colorful but not in a way that overwhelms the piece and is still easy to read what is going on in the art. As a viewer I’m drawn into the piece and I want to replicate that in my own art. I'm also Inspired by Edvard Munch for his paintings, the way they flow and draw a viewer into the piece.
I like to push myself and try things that I’m not comfortable with. If something comes out differently then I had hoped I would try to learn from that. I like the pursuit of art. It's something that never has a true end. It’s something I can continue to grow with and learn.
